Recommendations are in line with the requirements of Official Development Assistance (ODA) and the “nature for climate and people” pillar of the UK’s International Climate Finance (ICF) strategy.
In this brief, the Nature Facility provides recommendations to FCDO in Uganda and DRC for programming and policy engagement priorities with joint conservation, development, and climate change objectives. Recommendations are in line with the requirements of Official Development Assistance (ODA) and the “nature for climate and people” pillar of the UK’s International Climate Finance (ICF) strategy. It also suggests enhancing governance of land and natural resources, testing nature-based restoration in degraded areas, and building data infrastructure for climate-resilient agriculture.

After internal trials, the Energy, Climate and Environment Directorate implemented the tool across the FCDO on November 1, 2023, aligning with the statutory duty's commencement.
