Climate change and serious organised crime are increasingly linked. Climate impacts weaken social control, strain local economies, and create opportunities for criminal groups, leading to instability and new illicit markets. At the same time, criminal activity worsens climate change through environmentally harmful practices and by undermining governance and the resilience of local and Indigenous communities.

This report responds to a request by the Climate, Environment and Nature (CLEAN) Helpdesk to support the UK government’s Yemen Office Network (YON). The brief set out in the terms of reference is to: -‘develop a robust evidence base of climate-related hazards that have the potential to exacerbate conflict and security risks; for areas under the control of the internationally recognised government of Yemen (IRG); in order to shape stabilisation, peace-building, and security-related interventions to address emerging challenges.’

Mapping climate finance in Vietnam to inform strategic UK investment in a constrained aid landscape
The CLEAN Helpdesk recently provided support to the British Embassy in Vietnam by mapping and analysing current and planned climate initiatives in Vietnam. Based on this mapping, CLEAN made recommendations for future HMG climate programming.
